D Amato Welcomes Former Taiwan Premier
and Vice Presidential Candidate Siew
Former United States Senator from New York Alfonse M. D Amato (1981-99) will host former Taiwan Premier and opposition Kuomintang (KMT) candidate for Vice President, Vincent SIEW, on Wednesday for lunch on Capitol Hill.
Senator D Amato was a loyal friend of Taiwan during his 18-year service in the U.S. Senate. In May 2006, as Managing Director of Park Strategies LLC, he traveled to Taiwan to meet KMT presidential candidate, and then Taipei Mayor, MA Ying-jeou.
While in Washington, Mr. Siew will meet privately with a number of senators, from both sides of the aisle. Thereafter, Mr. Siew will be hosted by several U.S. House Members at a reception to be held in his honor at the House Committee on Foreign Relations.
Vincent Siew served as Taiwan s Minister of Economic Affairs from 1990-1993. As Chairman for Economic Planning and Development, he represented Taiwan at the 1993 and 1994 APEC summits. He was Premier from 1997-2000. Mr. Siew has also served as Chairman of the Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research and the Cross-Straits Common Market Foundation.
Before leaving for Washington, D Amato commented, Mr. Siew is here to tell U.S. officials that, if elected, a Ma-Siew administration will not create any extra headaches for the United States. And, given his pedigree, Mr. Siew will also see to it that Taiwan, once and for all, fully becomes part of the Asian economic growth story.
D Amato founded Park Strategies, LLC, a business and political consulting firm, headquartered in New York City, in 1998. The firm has a wide range of banking, telecommunications, energy, and health care clients, among others. Senator D Amato can be seen as a regular contributor/commentator for the Fox News Channel. In addition, D Amato has a weekly show on Bloomberg Radio, and a weekly segment, Wise Guys, on New York 1 with former New York City Mayor Ed Koch.
