Sean King

Vice President

Sean King joined Park Strategies in February 2006. He is leading the firm’s push into Asia, dividing his time between New York and the firm’s office in Taipei, Taiwan that was officially launched on March 17th, 2010.

Before joining Park Strategies, Mr. King spent five years at the United States Department of Commerce, where he served as Senior Advisor for Asia in the U.S. & Foreign Commercial Service (USFCS). While at Commerce, he headed up all domestic USFCS outreach on U.S. exports to mainland China. On separate occasions, he joined former Secretary of Commerce Donald Evans, former New York State Governor George Pataki and Marriott International, Inc. Chairman and CEO, J.W. Marriott, Jr. on fact-finding missions to Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.

Before joining Commerce, Mr. King was based in Singapore for both PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and Citibank. From 1999-2001, his consulting engagements at PwC included, among others, creating an export finance blueprint for a Southeast Asian government and launching a credit card in Thailand. Mr. King also worked for the New York State Department of Economic Development, on whose behalf he led a February 1997 trade mission to Taiwan.

Mr. King has an MBA from the University of Notre Dame and an undergraduate degree from the American University in Washington, D.C. As part of his MBA, Mr. King did a 1998 summer internship for Citibank in Taipei. He is fluent in Swedish.

Mr. King makes regular public speaking appearances. Mr. King is also a frequent guest on Bloomberg-TV and CNBC-Asia, and is a paid on air contributor to Japan’s NHK-World. His written opinions, since joining Park Strategies, have been published in the Korea Times, New York Times, Notre Dame Business, Seoul Times, Singapore Straits Times, South China Morning Post, Taiwan Security Research, and Topics (the official magazine of the American Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan).
