Syracuse, NY – On Saturday, April 1st, the Syracuse community came together to support the lifesaving work of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at the Syracuse for St. Jude Gala. Over 650 guests were in attendance including Burt Young, the legendary actor staring as Uncle Pauli in the Rocky series. The ballroom at the OnCenter was overflowing with folks from all over Central New York. The evening included dinner, cocktails, dancing, and a silent and give to live auction. The energy was contagious and the dance floor was never empty!
Michael S. Allen ESQ., lifelong Syracuse resident and lawyer, was the award recipient of the Dominic and Patricia Rossi Award. This honor is awarded to an individual whose faith is seen through their actions to make the community a better place.
The Syracuse for St. Jude Gala has become one of Syracuse’s must-attend events. The Syracuse for St. Jude committee had a goal of raising $130,000 this year but were blown away when they realized they surpassed that goal by $17,000 after a wildly successful silent auction and give to live auction.
Funds raised at the gala will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other deadly diseases. The mission of St. Jude is centered on finding cures and saving children. And families never receive a bill from St. Jude. All costs for treatment, travel, housing and food are covered by St. Jude – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live. By freely sharing the knowledge discovered at St. Jude, they are inspiring more collaboration between doctors and researchers worldwide, and, as a result, more lifesaving treatments for children everywhere. St. Jude will do everything possible to end childhood cancer and other deadly diseases.
