Thomas Buchan, Esq. is a government relations attorney with more than eight years of experience representing Fortune 500 companies, trade associations, and nonprofits before the New York State Government and key industry bodies. Mr. Buchan has a proven track record developing effective advocacy strategies and leading diverse teams to achieve objectives.
As vice president at Park Strategies, Mr. Buchan performs numerous duties that are essential to the success of clients and the firm as a whole. Along with advocating for government relations clients before the New York State Legislature, Executive Chamber, and administrative agencies, Mr. Buchan leads the development and implementation of legislative strategies for clients. This includes clients in financial services, insurance, tourism, cannabis, and environmental regulation industries.
Formerly, Mr. Buchan was a legislative fellow at the New York State Senate. There, he served the Majority Coalition’s Counsel’s Office. Some of his duties included communicating with conference members about proposed legislation, taking part in New York State Budget negotiations on behalf of the conference, and regularly interacting with advocates and constituents regarding pending legislative and community issues. Additionally, Mr. Buchan was recognized on the Super Lawyers® Rising Stars list three years in a row from 2020 to 2023, and in 2019, he made City & State New York’s 40 Under 40 list.
