William McGahay
Managing Director
William McGahay co-leads the local government practice at Park Strategies, providing consulting services to companies, organizations, and municipalities. A seasoned professional with decades of experience in state and local government, Mr. McGahay has been critical to supporting our clients regarding a broad spectrum of matters.
Mr. McGahay is well known throughout the Adirondack region for his work advocating on behalf of communities and the issues that impact the area. As deputy secretary to the governor for state operations, Mr. McGahay was responsible for the management of several executive branch agencies. Formerly, he served as director of state and local government affairs in the executive chamber, functioning as the primary liaison to elected officials and municipal advocacy groups.
Mr. McGahay also worked as political director on the successful reelection campaign of Governor George Pataki in 2002. He was subsequently appointed executive director of the New York Republican State Committee and went on to form Compass Point Public Affairs, a government and political consulting firm located in Lake Placid and Saratoga Springs, NY. A former 5 year employee of the Department of Environmental Conservation, McGahay was a 10 year member of the International Longshoremen’s Union. Mr. McGahay currently is an associate member of the Adirondack Association of Towns and Villages as well as a member of the State Committee of the New York State Conservative Party.
